| Two
days before,
henna is put on the nails of hands and feet of the wedding couple. One
day before, the guests arrive and are entertained with music
and dance. |

 |
| On
the wedding day, the couple
is dressed up for bersanding; then, people wish them good fortune by putting perfumed water on
the palms of their hands. |

| Then the
couple opens the kenduri
(meal given only at
birth, wedding, and death) by swapping food in each other's mouth. |

the elders convene to consecrate the marriage; tradition is passed on by conveying
the romantic meaning and value of being married and, realistically, by
assigning advisors
to help in case of marital problems and
by deciding on a
fine for the one who might want to divorce. |
